PHOENIX, AZ – December 11, 2004 – Reflecting the holiday spirit of giving, Core3 closed their office early Friday and participated in a community service event. Recognizing the need to give back to the community especially during the holidays, Core3 organized an event at St. Mary’s Food Bank where employees helped sort through hundreds of boxes of food.
“We started doing this about four years ago. Most of us get so busy during the holidays, that we really miss opportunities to get into the holiday spirit by giving back. Volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Bank is also a fun experience,” Gregg Scoresby, Chief Executive Officer of Core3, said.
St. Mary's Food Bank was founded in 1967 and was the world's first food-bank. Their mission is to eliminate hunger through advocacy, education and the gathering and distributing of food to those in need. St. Mary's Food Bank distributes over 32 million meals worth of food per year.
“We could not do what we do each year without the help from groups like yours. We usually have about 450 to 500 volunteers per week, which represents over 100,000 hours per year,” Terry Shannon, Executive Director of St. Mary’s Food Bank, said.
Core3 sorted over 20,000 pounds of food on Friday afternoon for St. Mary’s Food Bank. Core3 is a business process outsourcing firm headquartered in Phoenix. The company has 50 employees locally.
